How We Research

Our sources, in order

We start with the primary source: the statute or government dataset itself, read directly and cited by section or file name. Next comes our own data, built and checked in house. After that, a named vendor’s own pricing or product page, when a claim is about that vendor. General web sources come last, and only to fill a gap the sources above do not cover.

What we do not do

We do not invent a number, a statute, or a study result. Where a source does not say something, we say so plainly instead of guessing. Articles are AI-assisted: drafted with AI, then read and edited by a person on the editorial team before publishing.

How our images are made

We use a real photograph where a photo makes sense. Charts and diagrams are built from our own data. Illustrations are AI-generated and are labeled as illustrations, never presented as photographs.

How we test tools

Every interactive calculator or tool on this site is checked against a written set of example calculations, each with its own cited source, before it is published.
